Jewellery to cherish: Marion and Co
Christchurch and North Canterbury shoppers have been delighted to discover Marion McKellow’s jewellery boutique on High Street, Rangiora.
“Trading as Marion & Co Jewellery, we are about to celebrate our first birthday in North Canterbury after retailing in Merivale from 2002 until 2015,” says Marion. “I moved to North Canterbury in 2014 to renovate a historic farmhouse so this area is home now.”
Marion has just returned from a successful trip overseas, sourcing semi-precious stones and jewellery.
She has always specialised in high quality, hand-made sterling silver that she personally sources from around the world and New Zealand. Her designs are ageless and timeless.
“It is always special when customers, their children and grandchildren, come in wearing designs that they have been given and tell me how much they still treasure and wear their favourite pieces,” Marion says.
“I have found it important to design and buy with my customers in mind. I believe that style and quality is always in fashion. Trends come and go, style lasts forever. Jewellery is an investment and wearing unique designs is a chance to express your individuality and personal style.”
As far as advice on how to care for your jewellery, Marion recommends not wearing jewellery while sleeping, showering, swimming or gardening.
Pearls should be checked annually to see if the thread is still strong or discoloured, if worn on a regular basis. Rings, also, should be checked to ensure that the claws are not damaged as it is heart-breaking to lose a stone due to a worn setting, she adds.
Marion’s industrial-style store, with its steel cabinets, is vibrant with colour from the new arrivals from her latest trip. There are wonderful choices at all price points for a 21st, wedding anniversaries, birthdays and Christmas gifts. Marion also offers a corporate gift service. She is also happy to work with charities for fundraising events.
