In the heart of the city: Rose Historical Chapel

Print this story

One of the few remaining heritage buildings left within the Four Avenues, the Rose Historic Chapel is a unique, central city setting for small, intimate weddings.

With a secluded rose garden and a beautiful circular stained glass window, the scene is set for unforgettable nuptials.

The picturesque Victorian stone building with high ceilings and a treasure-trove of stained glass windows create a stunning setting hard to beat; a picture-perfect backdrop for special wedding memories and gorgeous photographs.

Location, location, location is what is hard to beat with this venue. A jewel in the crown of inner city heritage buildings, the chapel is conveniently located in the CBD. A lovely wedding venue any season, guests stay warm and dry indoors during the colder months, and are shaded outdoors by lush greenery on hot summer days. If weather allows, the gardens offer a tranquil area for guests to gather before moving to a reception location.

Once a church, the Rose Historic Chapel is now administered by a trust, on behalf of the Christchurch City Council, and leased out as a wedding and event venue. Four minutes by car and a 14 minute walk from Cathedral Square, the chapel celebrates inclusivity, welcoming wedding ceremonies of all religions and cultures.
