Highland fling this spring
A short three hours drive south of Christchurch you arrive in the port town of Ōamaru.
North Otago’s largest town is a wonderful destination to visit, especially with the array of exciting events on its annual calendar.
One such event that is returning to the town this November is the Ōamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations. Experience the atmosphere of the Victorian age, as Ōamaru goes back in time to recreate and celebrate the Victorian heritage of the town.
This year’s theme is Highland Fling, and it is set to be better than ever. Enjoy a range of events throughout the week including traditional music, historical talks, a garden party, penny farthing races, costume dress-ups, Victorian-style food, and more.
The city has a rich history and is full of grand Victorian architecture, beautiful gardens, and traditional rural homesteads, setting the scene perfectly for the celebrations. Whether watching, taking part, or both, in casual clothes, tartan or Victorian fashion, the Ōamaru Victorian Heritage Celebrations is a fabulous and fun event for the whole family.
The full timetable is available on the website, but be sure to book your tickets in advance as they are set to sell out.
