Flourish
Christchurch’s Women’s Health 2 Wealth (WH2W) seminar on 15 September is a chance to hear several inspirational women speakers. Metropol editor Lynda Papesch caught up with two of them prior to the event.
The Flourish Doctors advocate lifestyle, health and wellbeing and those are the messages they’re spreading to the women of Christchurch.
Doctors Victoria Price and Jane Scott (pictured) are The Flourish Doctors, and for them it is all about what they call “lifestyle medicine”.
With almost 50 years of clinical experience between them, the pair base much of their current clinical practice on their lifestyle medicine principles.
Victoria has been a practising medical doctor for the past 23 years, and also holds a Master’s degree in Sports and Exercise Medicine. As well as promoting the benefits of daily movement, she advocates the need for adequate rest, recovery and sleep, to optimise general health and wellbeing.
Jane initially trained as a surgeon in the U.K. prior to her current career in General Practice. Her particular interests are in nutritional medicine, and the importance of relaxation in maintaining health and happiness.
Both have an avid interest in the effect lifestyle choices have on physical and mental wellbeing. When the seedling of The Flourish Doctors was sown, Victoria and Jane realised that they each had their different strengths, and Victoria quickly realised that Jane was the word wizard and she already had this name in mind.
“Put simply we wish for all of our clients to ‘flourish’ as per the dictionary definition which is to grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way especially as the result of a particularly congenial environment,” explains Jane.
