Delicious dining in a natural setting: Gatehouse Café
Much can happen in 18 months, and so it has at one Templeton café where new owners took over in late 2022.
Set among mature trees, with spacious outdoor decking, the Gatehouse Café is a delightful discovery, where coffee, meals, and birdsong blend harmoniously in a special urban environment.
On the menu are specialties such as popcorn chicken, beef rendang, and a variety of Asian dishes, along with classic café fare. Savouries, slices, sandwiches, and light meals such as eggs Benedict, BLTs, and big breakfasts are popular, and so too are the opening hours.
“We open seven days a week,” explains Frank and Cora. “Monday to Friday from 7am to 3pm, and weekends from 8am to 2pm. “You can eat inside, outside among nature, or takeaway. Many of our customers love sitting outside because there are always birds singing in the trees.” On the pathway for planes landing at Christchurch Airport, Gatehouse Café customers also enjoy watching the planes fly through the sky.
Breakfast, brunch and lunch are all catered for, as are special dietary requirements including keto options.
You will find the café at 185a Kirk Road, Templeton.
