Classy Christmas décor

Take the time now to think about what Christmas means to you, and how you want to portray that via décor, before heading out and panic buying.

Christmas décor is often a stimulation overload, with lots of bright colours and kitschy items, which works well for children, although not necessarily adults.

If elegance is what you desire, try a simple yet chic theme such as a silver and white colour scheme with pops of green to echo your traditional tree colour.

Invest in shiny silver baubles, silver candle holders with long taper candles, and a neutral tree. Use crisp, white linen to cover the table, and decorate with green felt reindeer. Set the scene with fine China, crystal glassware, and silverware. Elegant napkin rings and place cards can further enhance your table setting.

For those who aren’t a big fan of Christmas hype, and want to pare it back further, choose key décor pieces, a natural garland, pinecones to decorate the dining table, and have presents wrapped in recycled brown paper.

Opt for eco-friendly Christmas crackers, made from recyclable materials, and containing useful or reusable items.

Head to local Christmas markets and boutique shops to support locally owned and small businesses. You’re more likely to find creative, unique pieces at them to add a special ambience to your Christmas celebrations.
