Championing clean waterways: NZ Landcare Trust

NZ Landcare Trust has launched the Aotearoa Catchment Extension (ACE) website to foster sustainable land management practices.

Dr Nick Edgar, CEO of NZ Landcare Trust says ACE has three core pillars: online learning modules, in-person Knowledge Hub events, and regional Communities of Practice, covering a curriculum of six vital topics. These include Freshwater Management in Aotearoa, Strategic Leadership, Integrated Farm to Catchment Scale Planning, GMP  and Mitigation Tools and Technologies, Monitoring and Evaluation, and Engagement and Storytelling.

“Whether a seasoned professional or a newcomer in catchment management, this toolkit offers a wealth of information, knowledge, and tools, consolidating a comprehensive online library. It serves as a one-stop shop for everything catchment-related, and is regularly updated to provide the latest information.

Dr Edgar expresses enthusiasm for the project, noting that it “strengthens the Trust’s 26-year legacy in Aotearoa. “The ACE program, with a focus on building the capabilities of catchment groups, is set to create a lasting impact on sustainable land management practices, and water quality improvements for generations to come,” he says.
