Caring for our environment: Honda
Honda is no stranger to a sustainable future.
Company founder Soichiro Honda once said to his engineers, “leave the skies blue for our children.” This mantra continues today with Honda striving to be at the forefront of sustainability.
One area which has been a phenomenal success for the brand actually has nothing to do with cars. Honda’s TreeFund and Planting Days have been operating since 2004.
Since then, Honda has planted over 700,000 trees all over New Zealand. With planting days every season from May through to September each year, and the continued growth of the Honda Forest as part of the Kaiapoi Regeneration Project, the brand shows no signs of letting up when it comes to growth and the environment.
It’s the same story with the current Honda range.
The current Jazz e:HEV was one of the most impressive new small cars to be released last year and its electric hybrid capabilities have been given an extra boost by the incorporation of three unique drive modes. The first of these is conventional engine drive with the others being self-charging hybrid mode and full electric mode by way of the battery and electric motors providing propulsion.
One could say Honda’s sustainable future has been given the “green” light.
