Imagine a few days away with your best gal pals, shopping, swimming, spa-ing, stitching, sewing, and crafting to your heart’s content.
You can do it, and now’s a great time to round up the girls and head to Hanmer Springs for some craft and retail therapy, some relaxing and some pure indulgence. The Alpine Winter Festival Hanmer Springs has kicked off and is running throughout July with lots of added events and excitement.
A must-do is a visit to Mickey Raes Gifts & Crafts in the Boulder Point Precinct, where owner Wendy Lamont has a fabulous selection of giftware, haberdashery, fabrics, sewing and knitting supplies and craft kits.
Wendy personally selects all the giftware and other lines, including baby clothing and educational toys, craft goodies such as wool and yarn supplies, and Liberty fabrics, and even has her own label of wedding accessories.
“I have a great selection of New Zealand author books and New Zealand souvenirs, Buxton and Baron leather bags, purses and wallets, and also Diamond Dotz art kits too,” she adds.
