Bob, Pixie, and Bixie
Hair styles come and go, often a re-invention of a previous fashionable cut.
Take “Bob” and “Pixie” cuts, for example. This spring and summer, along with short crops and bobs, we have the “Bixie”, a combination of both. Bobs are shorter, with a square length, cropped fringes, internal layers and wispy face framing texture.
New Zealand Fashion Week models showcased blunt bobs, major curls, and sleek ballerina buns. European and American fashion houses featured bohemian waves, sleek ponytails and ballerina buns, and lots of side parts.
Here are some top trends:
1. ‘90s face framing
Layers add texture and volume, in a style made famous
by Jennifer Anniston (aka Rachel Green) on TV sitcom
Friends. A low maintenance style, it works well with curly,
wavy or straight hair types.
2. Micro bob
Bobs are a timeless, classic style from shoulder-length
and shaggy to ultra-short and polished. Micro bobs are
everywhere, if you dare, and for an extra edgy cut add a
micro fringe.
3. The Pixie
A versatile style, the pixie cut can be styled in numerous
ways, from wispy and playful to an ultra-shiny wet look.
4. High-volume curls
Curls, the bigger the better are everywhere. Crimpy,
voluminous curls are a big trend for 2023, so ditch
those straighteners.
