Beautiful bridal dreams: To Cherish Bridal Boutique

Rain or shine, in a church or in a garden, there is one thing at the focal centre of almost every wedding – the dress!

The most special and significant dress a woman will ever wear, the wedding gown is also the most photographed, and the most valuable. From ball gowns to fitted fishtails, from soft flowing satins to layers of sparkle tulle, from modern, minimalist, celebrity chic, to the opulence of Mikado fabric, or detachable wings or sleeves. With all of this, and of course so much gorgeous lace, bridal fashion has never looked so good.

In Christchurch, To Cherish Bridal is at the centre of it all. Boutique owner Alison ensures that the selection of gowns in store represent all of this and so much more, saying “every bride is unique – we have something special for every taste and style.”

When searching for the perfect dress (that many have dreamed of since childhood), the advice and support of your bridal consultant is vital.
Alison and the team at ‘To Cherish’ have many years experience, and they have delighted thousands of brides, so they are uniquely placed to guide you towards your perfect bridal look. Not just the gown, but accessories and magical touches you didn’t even imagine as a small girl ‘playing bride’ with a pillow case veil in front of the big mirror in Mum’s room.

With all the challenges of Covid-19 in the last few years, Alison says that delivery times can sometimes be up to seven months, and up to two months for alterations if required – so plan to allow plenty of time.

There is also the option to choose many gowns ‘ready to wear’ from stock if you’re worried about timeframes.
Alison also encourages brides to be aware of things like sizing variations between overseas brands and New Zealand clothing standards (often up to 2 sizes).

Alison also offers this advice: “Book early, bring nude underwear and a strapless bra if possible, ready to enjoy your bridal shopping experience. It can be an emotionally and physically tiring process, but totally worth it when you find the perfect gown.

“You should do your best to communicate and tell us everything you’re looking for and dreaming of. The more we know the better service and advice we can provide. Most of all you should have fun trying and choosing your gown.”
