Art park: The Rusty Acre
A unique destination in North Canterbury reopens to the public on 14 October.
It’s a green and shady garden with towering trees and splashes of floral colour. A sculpture park with over 80 steel pieces reflecting the artistry of their creator Allan O‘Loughlin. Surprisingly, it’s also a shopping location at Andrea Wadsworth’s home decor gift shop full of special pieces – including steel flowers and hearts for the garden made by Allan.
The Rusty Acre is situated 25 minutes north of Christchurch at 1 Roscrea Place, Mandeville. Established from a bare paddock in 1993 it is now a tranquil place to bring a picnic, admire the creativity, and of course indulge in some retail therapy.
Open Friday, Saturday and Sunday 10am – 4pm.
