Ahead of the curve

Curves bring a fresh and soft wavy feeling into the home, and interior trends are showing more and more use of these rounded features.

From curved corners within walls and cabinets to curved backs of couches and chairs, arched cabinets, mirrors, and accessories, it’s all about curves in the interior world right now. The trend started in 2019 and has continued to gain popularity. Curves create instant softness, and they make us feel cocooned, safe, and warm. The sleek silhouettes embrace softness instead of the rigidity that comes with sharp lines.

Here are a few tips to bring the curved trend into your home:

Start small
If you don’t want to invest in bigger furniture items, you can still incorporate curves with smaller accessories. Try an accent chair, lamp, ottoman, mirror, headboard, or side table that has rounded edges and curvy qualities.

Go Bold
Curved furniture is a statement in itself, but if you want to go out then you can enhance this even more by opting for a bold fabric. Velvet is popular with curved couches, or you could try a fun pattern for a round ottoman or curved headboard.

Try floating
Due to the shape and angles of curved furniture, they don’t look so good pushed hard against a wall. Whether it’s a curved sofa or chair, try floating it off the wall, more toward the center of the room, or just slightly off the wall to create some space for the curve.

Architectural
If you are looking for a more permanent feature in your home, curved entryways or built-in cabinets and consoles with rounded edges are a statement that can elevate the design of a home. It takes a bit more work and money, but a great option when renovating and refreshing.
