A true country treasure: Dandelion and Clover

The dream for a country café started with just $50 in the back pocket.

How do you launch a business on a shoestring?

Dandelion and Clover founder Jenny Swift credits a small team of supporters for the treasure her West Melton café has become.
In just seven months, the café has established itself for the community, by the community – a venue where all are welcome to enjoy classic country hospitality and feel-good food. “Arrive as a guest and leave as a friend,” Jenny says.

Her 35 years of combined international experience in hotels and hospitality form the other side of the coin, yet Jenny still says “it’s taken a village”, and only considers herself the owner when it’s time to pay the wages. “Otherwise, I’m just one of the girls,” she says.

Her mission is simple: “I’m bringing back old-fashioned country hospitality.” Soon-to-be licensed, and with a high tea so applauded it challenges the most illustrious offerings in the city, Dandelion and Clover is well worth the visit. Delicate sweets and flavourful savoury options cater to all cravings, while the team’s signature homely hospitality elevates every mouthful.

Inspired by the name and concept of a café in Canada, Jenny brought the space to life – find everything from gifts and flowers to an ice cream cart. Experience true country hospitality and homemade food from the heart at 1266 West Coast Rd,
West Melton.
