A gold-star spring garden: Lushingtons

Spring is full of promise and has arrived in a rush and flurry of activity.

At Lushington’s Garden Centre, Miranda and her team have conjured up the guarantee of a backyard harvest to remember. Fruit is on the menu and that first taste of freshly picked, home-grown, can’t be beaten.

If space is limited, the team makes it possible with excellent advice and strong, productive plants. Espaliered Apple trees dress boundary fences beautifully with blossom and fruit or try their ‘Root-Control’ bags where you choose the tree size.

Creating a mini food forest is easy with their special range of dwarf fruit trees, then fill every other nook with a delectable mix of berry fruit, grapevines, citrus and all the other edibles that will have your fruit bowl and fridge bulging.

‘I don’t really have a garden as such’, you cry. They have that sorted too. “I recommend container gardening for all edibles and we ensure you buy the right tub, pot or ‘old boot’ for that little peach tree or parsley plant,” says Miranda, “just use the very best quality potting mix and slow-release fertiliser.” Offering bountiful produce grown with your own hands is so satisfying, and with their help, can be so much fun.
