A Dazzling Farewell
Just as much of a dazzling superstar now as he was back in his prime in the 70s, Sir Elton John is undoubtedly one of the world’s greatest music legends.
Now he is retiring from life on the road in the name of spending more quality time with his partner and two children – but before he makes his final exit, he wants to go out with a bang. From pub performer to singer, songwriter, pianist, composer and all-round rock icon, Elton John has touched the hearts and ears of almost every pop and rock fan.
Just shy of half a century since his first concert on New Zealand soil, he will bring his mammoth final tour Farewell Yellow Brick Road to our shores next February. John is set to perform four star-studded performances in Auckland, Hawke’s Bay and Dunedin, complete with brand new stage production and a glamorous tour wardrobe designed by the famed high-end clothing brand Gucci.
The four performances will be only a few of 300 concerts in total across five continents. He’ll be joined by longstanding band members Nigel Olsson, Davey Johnstone, Ray Cooper, Matt Bissonette, John Mahon and Kim Bullard for a world tour that’s bigger than ever before. The Farewell Yellow Brick Road world tour commences in 2021 and alas, we will wave goodbye to Elton John’s career with 70s nostalgia in our hearts and the soundtrack to ‘Saturday Night’s Alright’ stuck in our heads.
