Canterbury rally
Starting in Rangiora and finishing in Christchurch on King’s Birthday weekend, the 2026 Canterbury Rally promises action-packed fun.
With more than 50 years of history across Ashley Forest and North Canterbury roads, the Canterbury Rally is one of New Zealand’s most iconic motorsport events. The 2026 edition forms part of the New Zealand Rally Championship, Subaru H6 Cup, and Mainland Rally Series, attracting elite drivers, purpose-built rally cars worth over $500,000, classic Kiwi specials, and competitors ranging from young emerging talent to veteran drivers.
Taking place over King’s Birthday weekend (30 to 31 May), Canterbury Rally is the region’s premier, free to attend motorsport event.
30 May: Opening event Lone Star Manchester Street display, 4pm
- Rally cars will be displayed outside, giving the public the chance to get up close to the vehicles, meet teams, and experience the atmosphere before race day.
- Drivers will be at Lone Star Manchester Street, signing merchandise and meeting fans ahead of the rally at 4.45pm.
31 May: Rally day starts 7.30am at Joe’s Garage Rangiora
- Enjoy multiple public fan zones throughout the course
- Free spectator access
- Rally action across North Canterbury
- Live atmosphere at Lone Star Manchester Street for the finish, with prizegiving at 9pm.
