The resort for foodies: Methven Resort

Situated against a breathtaking backdrop of the Southern Alps, find an idyllic, exclusive spot to enjoy every meal.

Nestled within the perfect slice of New Zealand paradise, Methven Resort is the ultimate place for a weekend escape, paired with astoundingly delicious eats. Discover why it is such a destination, and make your choice: is the food better or the view?

Think mouthwatering meals made using fresh, local produce. Chargrilled steak is a house favourite, yet each dish is just as palatable. Another specialty is the Tractor Drivers special, which boasts a tasty plate of sirloin steak, sausage, bacon, onion, fries, and salad.

From traditional meals including a hearty roast or a classic chicken burger with fries, there is something for everyone. Lean into your indulgent side with the pasta of the day, some delectable recents have been a creamy chicken and bacon fettucine, and a chilli prawn linguine. Flavour and mastery bind to craft a menu that leaves you completely indecisive on what to order, and it’s only an hour away from the city.

Open Wednesday to Sunday, with the Patrons Bar open from 4pm until late, and the Patrons Restaurant from 5pm, it is the spot to be, mid-week onwards. Methven Resort’s Sarah Robinson says the weekly specials are cherished by visitors and locals alike.

On Wicked Wing Wednesday, enjoy as many chicken wings as you please for $2 each, while Thirsty Thursday offers a burger and beer for $25. Naturally, Fish n Chip Friday is a $20 favourite, with the Sunday Roast also available for $20.

In between meals, soak up the spectacular scenery, or use Methven Resort as a base for group, couple, or team building fun at Mt Hutt Ski field. Upon your return from local activities, such as hot air ballooning, relax and unwind by the crackling open fire with a glass of wine, or try your hand at a game of pool while the children enjoy the play area.
