Editor’s perspective: Enjoy the read
I’m a magazine junkie from way back, whether it’s the latest science journal, my husband’s boating publications, a lifestyle magazine such as Metropol, or a relaxing fashion fix.
During the pandemic, many magazines folded, although post-Covid-19 there are now more published nationally than pre-pandemic.
Lifestyle magazines are one of life’s essentials, with a unique value in that they entertain, relax, inspire, and open our eyes to what’s on-trend, who’s who, and to advertising opportunities.
They’re inspirational and aspirational, and leading the field in Christchurch is Metropol magazine. Celebrating 25 years this October, Metropol is, and will continue to be, Christchurch’s number one lifestyle magazine.
The numbers speak for themselves. The only audited lifestyle magazine in Christchurch, 40,000 copies roll off the press every fortnight, distributed Christchurch-wide, into select letterboxes, and a few surrounding towns. That is 1.04 million copies free to readers each year.
Readership is estimated to be 160,000 per issue, or four people per copy, equating to a whopping 4.1 million plus readers per year.
Our readers help themselves to it from stands in malls and strategically located retail outlets, rather than having it stuffed unsolicited into the South Island’s 8308 PO boxes.
The dedicated team that produces each issue works hard to create a stimulating read so you can sit back, relax and enjoy the read.
