Textures do the talking: Made in the shade fashions

Velvet, corduroy and oh-so-cosy wool – textures take centre stage at this Colombo St store.

Winter fabric favourites fill the shelves and racks at Made in the Shade in a seasonal collection curated by owner Alison Donn. Striking, on-trend hues materialise through the likes of beautiful Italian woollen jackets and Australian-designed outerwear.

Toorallie’s Wool jacket (pictured), a boxy, wide-sleeve fit available in chartreuse or navy and designed to slip easily over winter layers, is “like a blanket,” Alison says. Snuggly yet sophisticated, Alison pairs hers with the complementing Toorallie merino lambswool Diamond Cable knit vest.

Underneath, Alison’s range of flattering skirts and the classic Bittermoon Carly dress blend warmth and elegance for winter weddings and events. Corduroy pants are an effortless off-duty option, while velvet and patterned pieces polish any outfit. Alison raves about the Country Laine basketweave knitwear, which proved so popular she had to request more be made.

Thick and premium quality textiles meet rich and moody hues at Made in the Shade for ultimate easy-wear, easy-style wardrobing. With a sale on now, head in-store or find more on Facebook.
