On the Day Events manages the setup, liaises with your vendors, oversees the runsheet, and troubleshoots any issues that could derail your perfect planning. Most importantly, they’re the point of contact throughout the day so you don’t have to be.
Founder and lead coordinator Jodie Shaw (pictured middle) has a sharp eye for detail and a calm, capable approach that ensures your day flows seamlessly.
“We’re not planners, we specialise in a niche market of managing the day itself. You’ve done the planning, made the decisions, and curated your dream day,” Jodie says. “Investing in an On The Day coordinator allows you to be fully present and relaxed enough to enjoy each and every moment.”
“Walking into our reception and seeing how beautifully Jodie had set everything up exactly how I imagined was extremely special. We can hand on heart say it would not have been anywhere near as carefree and amazing without all her work,” say newlyweds Mitchy and Alex.
Jodie’s passion for on-the-day wedding coordination began while working as a venue manager at The Great Hall in the Arts Centre, Christchurch.
“Too often, I saw brides racing against the clock, trying to set up the venue instead of enjoying getting ready with their bridal party,” she recalls. “Asking family and friends to help can create unnecessary stress and pressure on everyone. From my 20 years of event experience here and overseas, I knew there had to be a better way.”
“Our wedding day was wet! We had 120ml rain which made for muddy times in our reception marquee for 170 guests,” say newlyweds Claire and George. “Jodie soldiered on in gumboots and looked after our guests just as well as us. To save our oldest guests making their way through the mud to the buffet table, Jodie went above and beyond and brought dinner to our family members instead. We couldn’t recommend Jodie enough to anyone planning their wedding.”
