Winter is fast approaching. That is actually not a bad thing when there is a place like Hanmer Springs to visit as the village is a superb winter and alpine destination. There are the thermal pools, of course, along with their indulgent spa, but there is also skiing, snowboarding, forest walks and jet boating. The Alpine Winter Festival held over two weeks – 4 to 18 July 2026 – includes an ice skating rink and a village light display.
It is of course recommended to book accommodation in advance due to the popularity of the village during cold weather. There are few nicer places to stay in Hanmer Springs than
