The Christchurch Spring Fashion Festival (CSFF) is a sartorial showcase, bringing stylish New Zealand Fashion Week (NZFW) events with South Island flavour. In a three-year partnership between sustainable economic development agency ChristchurchNZ and NZFW, it builds on last year’s landmark debut expanding into a four-day celebration of exceptional design, creative vision and the evolving identity of New Zealand fashion.
Liam Taylor, executive director of NZFW says “CSFF is an amazing opportunity to bring the best of New Zealand fashion to an engaged South Island audience. The response in 2025 proved that this type of event has a place in Christchurch, and we can’t wait to work with the team at ChristchurchNZ again to bring the city to life before Cup Week.”
Connecting with the On Show city-wide campaign, ChristchurchNZ’s head of major events Karena Finnie says the festival celebrates homegrown talent while attracting visitors and industry attention to Ōtautahi, positioning us as a vibrant city that embraces creativity and welcomes new experiences.
Here’s why we deserve it:
1. Our fashion community deserves to be celebrated. Designers and makers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, writers, content creators, models, retailers and boutique owners, consumers… even New Zealand’s oldest and grandest department store Ballantynes, and a dedicated fashion design school at Ara. Our city is full of stylish creatives who need somewhere to share that. Auckland hosts national fashion week, Dunedin has the iconic iD Dunedin Fashion Week pioneered by figures like Margi Robertson, and Wellington is the home of wearable art spectacle WOW. It was about time for Ōtautahi.
2. It proves our post-earthquake shine. The festival is a symbol of strength and a fresh appetite for fashion after years of rebuilding the city. Spring is the best season to do it in all its glory, we’re the Garden City after all.
3. A rebuilt Christchurch is the perfect platform. We’re purpose-built. With a central location, new infrastructure and a historic tram connecting many of the city’s most popular landmarks, you might say we’re made for it. Everything you need is in easy reach – premium retail precincts, hotels, restaurants, cafés and a spectacular urban park all within an easy stroll.
