Names such as Lotus, Lamborghini and Maserati spin the wheels of many who enjoy the finer things in life. Indeed cars have been status symbols since 1886 when the first “vehicle powered by a gas engine” was patented by Carl Benz.

Designs have evolved since then with some fabulous, many flops and numerous favourites standing the test of time.

Today some of those veteran, vintage and classic vehicles are lovingly maintained and take pride of place in private collections earning them luxury status, alongside many more modern beauties such as the Bentley Bentayga, Rolls-Royce Wraith, BMW 7 Series, Audi R8, the Rolls-Royce Phantom, and the Mercedes Maybach S-Class.
