Beloved furry friends are increasingly taking centre stage at our weddings as people design their big day around their loves and lives. So, if you’re a bride who doesn’t want to be upstaged by her pooch, be prepared, your pet is going to get a lot of attention. - Is your pet going to be comfortable at a bustling, busy event? (The last thing you want is a stressed pooch taking a nip at someone, or raiding the wedding breakfast).
- Choose a pet-friendly venue and double check with them about bringing pets.
- Hire a pet sitter or dog walker to take care of your pets during the ceremony and reception. Think about your pet’s safety and well-being. Ensure there’s shelter, water, a designated toilet area, and a quiet space available for them during the event.
- Bring along a pet bed, toys and their favourite treat.
- Make sure your pets are comfortable wearing a collar and tags with your contact information.
- Consider allergies and cultural requirements of guests; let them know your pet will be there.
- Train pets, and if possible do practice runs before the wedding.
