With Cocoa Black, your local coffee is always just around the corner. Seven locations across Christchurch means your favourite can be enjoyed anywhere. Café owner Yong Ren says he didn’t imagine opening multiple cafés. “I never planned to open more than one, but the people love us, they love the food and the atmopshere, and they love the friendly service.”
No matter which Cocoa Black location you visit, you get the same quality experience. “We are not a franchise where consistency is out of our control,” Yong explains. “Each store has a manager who has worked for me for over two years, they know how we can be consistent with our service and quality of our food.”
All the food is cooked on site using their own recipes and each location has its own special feel. “Waikuku is an old timber building, with a log fire. St Martins has a garden,” says Yong, “I am not doing the same for all of them.”
