Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre is a crown-led major anchor project for the regeneration of Christchurch delivered by Ōtākaro, and will have capacity to host up to 2000 delegates for a variety of national and international events.
It will feature world-class purpose-built facilities including a 1400 seat auditorium, up to 2800 square metres of exhibition space and 24 meeting rooms.
Until May 15, the pop up will offer the public a glimpse into what Te Pae will offer, including a food truck, manned by Executive Chef Desmond Davies, virtual reality walkthrough developed by local company Jix Reality, and staff from across the business to answer questions, including about its upcoming recruitment drive.
“Even allowing for Covid-19, which has significantly impacted the business events sector, Te Pae Christchurch is likely to contribute about $600 million of direct and indirect economic benefit to the region in its first 10 years of operation,” says Ōtākaro Chief Executive John Bridgeman.
The pop-up is open to the public from Wednesday to Friday between 11am and 3pm and 10am to 3pm on Saturday, until May 15.
