Longer, warmer days mean extended opening hours and a brand new brunch menu for Curator’s House. Sitting in the festive season’s sunshine surrounded by flowers and anchored by the house’s 1920s architecture is where this taste of Spanish gastronomy and service shines.
For the summer season, the restaurant opens for brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 9am to 11.30am (after which the lunch menu begins), and will stay open between lunch and dinner on Friday, Saturday and Sunday for afternoon snacking and Sangria sipping in the sun.
The new menu is inventive as it is traditional, with Chef Victoria ‘Vikki’ Liptrot’s Spanish spin. Huevos rotos, baked eggs on tomato with housemade chorizo or mushrooms; pan tumaca, toasted Grizzly sourdough topped with crushed tomato and olive oil drizzle, with your choice of Jamon serrano or queso manchego cheese; aguacate con huevo, poached eggs, avocado and bacon on toasted Grizzly sourdough with saffron oil drizzle; huevo con chorizo y patatas, the kitchen’s award-winning chorizo chargrilled, mixed with wedged potatoes and topped with fried eggs. Plus, fresh granola topped with almonds, melon and coconut yoghurt. It’s an escape from the busy city, where “the only sound you’ll hear is the birds chirping,” says co-founder Jackie Garcia-Knight.
