For most of us, it’s a long-running battle to get our children off screens and doing something that enhances their wellbeing and development. To shift the outcome of the fight in your favour, you can’t do better than add some fun and stimulating physical kit to your armoury.
Since 1949, The Canterbury Playcentre Shop has been supplying quality educational equipment and toys first to Playcentres and then to all families. “Developing gross motor skills helps children approach new adventures with confidence and resilience,” says manager Megan, “and our range of quality toys are ideal for extending their physical capabilities.”
With both a store in Sydenham and the full range of products also available online, the Playcentre Shop aims to contribute to children developing confidence into adulthood. “New customers are always impressed and surprised with our range of toys,” says Megan. “We stock a ninja obstacle course, rope ladders, climbing ropes, launchers, and balance beams. The toys help children learn about the consequences of taking risks, and how to recognise their limits.”
The not-for-profit enterprise belongs to Playcentre Aotearoa. “Our toys are chosen to promote spatial awareness, eye tracking, hand-eye coordination, balance, perseverance, problem solving, communication, and cooperation,” says Megan. Find out more at playcentreshop.co.nz.
