ADDINGTON RACEWAY

Springtime in Canterbury means it is Cup time at Addington Raceway.

Without doubt one of the great events on the New Zealand sporting and social calendar, it’s a week of celebration for the city of Christchurch, with Addington hosting two days of spectacular racing, entertainment, fashion, great food and wine.

Addington will offer a range of options during the week, including Australasia’s biggest harness racing day, IRT NZ Trotting Cup Day on Tuesday 8 November. The return of the IRT New Zealand Trotting Cup to its former glory has the people behind New Zealand’s greatest race buzzing.

But you’ll need to secure tickets early as Addington Raceway CEO, Brian Thompson anticipates that over 20,000 people could flood into the venue to witness the 119th running of the cup.

“Many hospitality packages have already sold out and general admission and other tickets went on sale from September 1,” says Thompson.

THE NEW ZEALAND AGRICULTURAL SHOW

The New Zealand Agricultural Show, brought to you by Vero and the Canterbury A&P Association, follows in the footsteps of 159 years of history, bringing a touch of tradition to the city and celebrating all that is great about agriculture in a spectacular mix of colour, excitement, innovation, and competition!

With this year’s show being held from 9-11 November, planning is already in full swing.

The Government’s move to extend its insurance scheme giving large-scale events certainty for another year, was welcome news, allowing forward planning with more confidence.

“We’re on a mission to make The Show an affordable day out for families and are proud to announce all children under the age of 18 can attend for free. Every Adult or Senior ticket purchased can include up to three kids’ tickets at no charge, as we want every child in Canterbury to have the opportunity to come along,” says a spokesperson.
