But instead of celebrating the milestone by looking back, founders Jenny Joblin and Ben Dundas are preparing to hand the creative future of the business to Jenny’s children: Ryder (21), Monte (19) and Dusty (17) who are already shaping where the brand goes next.
Beloved fashion label Sylvester will trade until Christmas; with final goodbyes in February. “We are sad to announce that after giving it our all, we have decided to wind up the Sylvester brand,” the brand posted to social media. “The hard reality is that the economic climate is so much tougher than we anticipated.”
It’s now illegal to destroy unsold clothes in the EU. Around four to nine per cent of all textiles products are destroyed before use (a 600,000 tonnes textile mountain getting burned or added to landfill annually), but new legislation from July 2026 means large companies are prohibited from destroying unsold clothes, accessories and footwear. New rules require businesses to resell, donate or reuse instead.
