Ruffshuffler Ceramics was founded back in 2023 by talented ceramic artist Robyn Smith-Clark who says that the workshop is “not just a studio, but a hub of inspiration and learning.”
Robyn’s own journey into the world of ceramics began in 1973 in Auckland. From that moment onwards, her hands shaped, moulded, and transformed clay into exquisite pieces of art that have been showcased in numerous exhibitions. Today, she has another mission – to share her wealth of knowledge, expertise and enthusiasm for ceramics with the community in Christchurch. “I always had a dream to set up a workshop like this.”
To this end, she and fellow tutor Carolyn Landesman run a series of classes and workshops for beginners and more experienced ceramicists. They teach both pottery hand-building and pottery wheel work, with classes available to browse on the website. “We believe in the magic of handmade artistry, the connection between the creator and the clay and the joy that comes from creating something unique.”
Ruffshuffler Ceramics is open seven days a week at 90 Disraeli Street and has a vast range of supplies from glazes and clays, to pottery wheels and kilns.
