Deemed a resort town, Hanmer Springs is the perfect place to get one final weekend away before the year kicks into full swing. Situated in North Canterbury, less than two hours away, the bustling location has a little bit of everything for everyone. We’ve put together a list of must-dos in the tiny hotspot, so you don’t miss out on anything.

1. FEELING HOT:
The town is most commonly known for its natural hot pools; it would be silly to give the star attraction a miss. The Hanmer Spings Thermal pools and spas is a year-round option, as there are also cold pools for the warmer months.

2. LEAP OF FAITH:
While it’s certainly not for everyone, some take great joy in throwing themselves from large heights. Jumping off the historic Ferry Bridge and free falling for 35 metres above a surging river, is definitely a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

3. WATER RUSH:
