Tuscany Hamel and brother Blue are pioneering a New Zealand first in haircare.
Most shampoos on the market contain 80 to 90% water, resulting in a watered-down, less effective product. New Zealand-made and Christchurch-owned, the siblings’ brand Hair Candy introduces its counteragent, a zero-water whip formula that provides a more concentrated and potent product for better value and results. To add to the innovation, Tuscany shares her ‘triple whip’ hair washing technique – a game-changing washing method of conditioning, then shampooing, then conditioning again for optimal hair health.
Championing its ‘100% Ugly Free’ philosophy, the new range is made with only natural ingredients – no parabens, sulphates, or anything nasty – in recyclable packaging.

“Hair Candy was born out of a genuine love for hair and maximising hair health,” says Tuscany, daughter of world-renowned hairstylist Mike Hamel. “After years behind the chair, I saw so many clients with hair suffering from the daily grind and environmental exposure. I was passionate about creating a natural solution that could not only repair existing damage but also provide a protective shield against future harm. Hair Candy is that solution – a natural, waterless whip, designed to rebuild and strengthen hair, leaving it shiny, soft, and resilient.”
The formula’s hero ingredient is 100% natural sheep wool keratin, which is a 99% match to human keratin. This allows it to penetrate the hair cuticle, repairing it from the inside out and preventing breakage by 85%. The range is further enhanced by a new key ingredient, Exosomes, which deliver cell-signalling molecules that stimulate hair follicles, reduce scalp inflammation, and support hair growth.
