Growing community

An outdoor fanatic. Nature lover. Water enthusiast. And a mother to a young family. These are just a few of the characteristics that define Sarah Wiblin – the new manager of Hanmer Springs’ Thermal Pools and Spas.

Just seven months into the role and getting to know the Hanmer Springs community, Sarah (pictured) says she couldn’t think of a better job. “It’s been such a great ride so far. I see my role as looking at what we offer with fresh eyes, building on what’s working well and tweaking things that could be done differently.” Sarah’s focused on creating the ultimate visitor experience.

She’s determined to grow the area – socially, economically – and understands the thermal pools complex plays a key part in that. “I’m focused on working really closely with our community, including our local businesses.”

In anticipation of another “buzzing summer” at the pools, she’s busy building special Christmas packages, grazing boards for couples to enjoy in between swims, and new products for passionate swimmers.

But her community focus extends beyond the water. November’s ‘Night for Flight’ fundraised for the Westpac Rescue Helicopters and a new helipad for Hanmer Springs, while collaborations with the Hanmer Springs Business Association and other local companies promise some incredible community events in 2026. “It feels like there’s real momentum building, and we’re keen to make the most of it for both the pools and the wider region.”

It looks like it’s going to be a Hanmer Springs summer.
