Five ways to wake up with skin that glows.
- Double cleanse: You wouldn’t shower with your clothes on, right? Start with an oil-based makeup remover to dissolve and remove makeup. Follow this with a water-based face cleanser to wash off all the dirt, sweat, and oil build-up. The double cleanse method means your skincare products will be deeper absorbed for better results and a brighter glow.
- Exfoliate: Aim to remove dry and dead skin one to three times a week, depending on your skin type – but consult your dermatologist or aesthetician first so you don’t wind up with irritated skin. Exfoliating gets rid of dry, flaky skin for a smoother, radiant complexion.
- Use a nourishing face mask: More moisture equals more glow, so, with the help of an expert, source a hydrating face mask that will suit your skin type and lock in moisture. Concentrated ingredients build a better skin barrier to deeply hydrate and improve elasticity while reducing dryness and dullness for a luminous result.
- Introduce a vitamin C serum: One of beauty’s best secrets, vitamin C supports the skin’s regeneration process, naturally brightening the skin and correcting dark spots to reduce hyperpigmentation. Unfortunately, though, dietary vitamin C doesn’t reach the skin’s surface – so it’s important to bring the powerful antioxidant in through your skincare routine. A vitamin C serum will help protect against fine lines and wrinkles through enhancing collagen production for a firmer, plumper appearance.
- Wear sunscreen: If nothing else, sunscreen should be the one thing applied to your skin even on a dull day. The obvious benefits: reduced sun exposure and a lower risk of cancer. The lesser-known benefits: more even skin tone, improved skin resilience, hydration, better results from your other skincare products, and ageing and skin damage prevention. Experts suggest a SPF 30 broad spectrum sunscreen applied daily, and more than once daily for prolonged exposure.
