Christchurch Dads’ Stroller Club, @dadbehaviour on IG
Local dad MJ Meafou, alongside his wife Brittany Meafou, fosters a community for fathers through local initiatives like a Stroller Club and events like ‘Beards and Braids’, while documenting his own fatherhood journey. “I started the club with a simple idea: to create more pathways for dads to connect, build friendships and find a genuine sense of community,” Mattai tells Metropol.
“When I became a first-time dad in 2023, outside of antenatal classes, I struggled to find spaces where dads could simply socialise, have a yarn and connect in a relaxed environment. I kept thinking about how valuable it would be to have a space where dads could talk about everything from something as simple as different nappy-changing techniques, right through to the more challenging conversations around mental health and the realities of fatherhood,” he says.
“Our walks and events create opportunities for honest conversations and help break down some of the stereotypes and expectations around what it means to be a dad. For me, it’s all about community, creating a safe space, and making it accessible and affordable for every dad.” Visit linktr.ee/dadbehaviour.

Their mission is to spark honest yarns and foster connection for working age men. “We believe in strong communities where every man feels connected, valued and heard. Our team is made up of dedicated individuals who are passionate about creating a better future for men in New Zealand,” the website reads.
