In a city rich with sartorial energy, the Christchurch Spring Fashion Festival finds its home. From shopping to street style and fashion shows at Te Pae, industry influencers Jessie Kirk and Skye Zöfia Marryatt find their style blooms from within The Crossing.

What does fashion mean to you? It’s really personal. A lot of what we’re drawn to comes from the world around us. I love that we’re constantly absorbing those things, and that it keeps changing how we express ourselves.
How did that shape your styling picks from The Crossing? After a cold Christchurch winter, I wanted to bring that spring feeling. I was so in love with a lot of the RUBY and Juliette Hogan pieces so it was nice to mix them in.

What does fashion mean to you? Fashion means a lot more to me than just clothes. It’s one of the few ways I can express who I am without having to explain myself. There’s something really personal about putting an outfit together, creating something, and being able to see a part of yourself reflected in it. Beyond self expression, fashion has become almost therapeutic for me. It’s helped me heal from trauma, connect with people, understand different perspectives, and understand myself a little more too.
How did that shape your styling picks from The Crossing? I started with pieces that genuinely reflect what I wear day-to-day. Plaid and colour are where I naturally gravitate when getting dressed. I built the looks around those hero pieces. I wanted the styling to feel like an extension of my everyday wardrobe rather than something completely separate from how I actually dress.
