Canterbury housing bucks the trend: Ray White Marshland director Amanda Blair

While much of the country feels the slowdown, the housing market in Canterbury remains buoyant.

Unlike most of New Zealand, the Canterbury housing market is showing strong, resilient growth in early 2026, with median prices rising roughly 2.2% year-on-year, which is outperforming many other regions.

“We are lucky to have such a great market that is skipping the national downward trend,” says Ray White Marshland director Amanda Blair. Cantabrians have more confidence than other Kiwis, and as interest rates settle, they are putting New Year’s resolutions into practice.”

The team at Ray White Marshland have been busy, and that’s just the way they like it, Amanda says. “We have a real buzz in our office, plenty of new and repeat clients listing with us, and we are always on the lookout for high-performing agents to join us. The support we give our agents and our technology backing is second to none.”
With 15 agents in the office, the team has a range of ages and experience. “Everyone receives guidance and training as an ongoing feature of working with us,” Amanda says.

Listing with Ray White Marshland means being with a group that has region-wide expertise. Agents live in the Selwyn District, on Banks Peninsula, in Waimakariri, and different areas of Greater Christchurch. “While our office is situated in Marshland, our focus is far broader. Each of us shares their experience gained living in their home neighbourhoods. You get the wealth of combined expertise rather than the knowledge of one agent.”

Central to their success is their policy of 100% follow up. “We never drop the ball,” says Amanda, “we are by your side from the beginning of the selling process until long after the keys to the property change hands.” Contact the team via the website.
