In their quest to provide fantastic homes at a great price with minimum fuss, the team at Heartland Homes have made kitset houses a key element in their portfolio of home build choices. Vicki and Geoff Foster co-own Heartland Homes and every kitset or transportable home is personally overseen. “We are on the end of the phone from the beginning right until completion, offering support and backup until our happy homeowners have moved in,” says Vicki. “We also love to see our homeowners get hands-on with their projects; they develop their own skills and it adds an unmatched sense of pride in their completed home.”
Put simply, everything needed to construct the completed house is packaged up and sent to your chosen build site. The team also takes care of consenting, enabling clients to choose their own local builder, build themselves, or Heartland cover building as well.
“Our kitsets are ideal for less experienced builders because everything is there, instructions are clear, and we don’t set any time limit on our build support,” says Vicki.
Recently, kitset homes have shipped to Linkwater, Ōamaru, West Coast, Hāwea, and Te Anau.
“The Oak kitset is our most popular at the moment,” says Vicki. “It is a stunning four-bedroom family home, but like all of our homes it is customisable and you receive all the of the products to complete excluding the labour.” Framing is home-grown sustainable timber, a natural insulator that performs well in seismic testing. “Our joinery is double glazed and thermally broken,” says Vicki “and highest performing, energy efficient insulation in the ceiling and walls means our homes stay warm in winter and cool in summer.”
The team exclusively use coloursteel metal long-run roofing in the full range of colours and profiles because it is lightweight, easy to maintain and ideally suited to New Zealand our
weather conditions.
Vicki says kitset homes can offer more flexibility for the owner to be involved, which can mean the build is more affordable through a reduction in labour costs. Kitset components are manufactured in controlled settings and meet stringent quality standards, ensuring durability and compliance with the NZ Building Code. “Our kitsets usually result in a faster build time, meaning you are settled in faster,” says Vicki. “We’ve thought it through, we deliver it to you, we are always on the end of the phone, we think you’ll love a Heartland kitset home.”
