All tied up

Is the curtain tieback still on trend? Lean into lush, rich hues and clever styling with our four tips.

  1. Remember the golden rule of thirds for curtain tiebacks. Position them roughly one-third up from the bottom of the curtain to let the fabric flow freely and craft the most visually pleasing proportions.
  2. Keep tiebacks in tone with your room’s aesthetic. Structural holdbacks complete a modern room with sharp finishes, while ornate, tasselled ropes play into an old-money aesthetic.
  3. Mount tieback or holdback hooks eight to 10cm outside the window or door frame so the fabric drapes in a graceful curve instead of being crushed or crumpled.
  4. Make a style statement with unique, bold, or eclectic tiebacks, or coordinate the finish with your curtain colour.
